Petal Bowl Construction Techniques

I’ve been considering the creation of a PowerPoint and maybe a video on the petal bowl construction technique/process.  This article is a test ballon to see if there is any interest in learning this process and to see if you’ve bookmarked our website for updates.

I know of only two other segmented bowl makers who’ve used this technique; my segmented bowl making mentor and the late Sonnie Sharrar and my friend Earl Reed.  Earl too learned this process from Sonnie and he was very kind in showing me some of his techniques this past weekend so I was wondering if others have any interest?   I’d enjoy hearing from others who’ve done this or a similar process or if the information is already available on a different website.  It takes me about 1.5 to 2 hours for every minute of video so if information already exists I won’t waste my time.  You’re probably saying to yourself, ‘I’ve seen your videos and you should be spending your time doing something else.’

Please let me know what you think of this possible instructional video and/or PowerPoint idea.  Happy woodworking!

    Jay,

I would love to see a video and/or a PP for the process you use for this bowl. I have learned a lot from your other videos and have enjoyed my brief interactions with you via email. I look forward to any projects you do and share.
Thanks again for all your help and for this site.

    Stan
