_2Since my retirement, which started in July 2013, I’ve been busy in the shop making 3 Maloof inspired chairs and a desk with a Hawaiian Koa writing surface. This is the second time I’ve built this style of desk. I love the design! Two of the chairs and the desk are currently for sale at the Got Art Gallery downtown Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Please contact me if you would like to commission either piece in a different wood spieces.

This Maloof inspired chair was my very first attempt at building a chair. Most of us consider chairs to be very intimidating and I would have to say that I felt the same. I had to remember Henry Ford quote, “if you think you can or can’t do something, you will always be right”. There are several good instructional videos on the web that can provide you the needed assistance, so don’t shy away from this icon piece of furniture designed by Sam Maloof.

Many thanks to Roy Wall for taking the time to photograph my work!
